A cyber attack using two zero-day vulnerabilities has been linked to a Russian state-sponsored group known as RomCom, named after the malware it uses. The attack targets Mozilla Firefox and Windows, exploiting a high-severity vulnerability in Firefox as well as a privelege escalation flaw in Windows. This is a flaw that does not necessitate a user action to allow hackers to isntall a backdoor on an asset. This exploitation is incredibly concerning given that it comes from a Russian based hacker organization and that almost all large corporate and government devices run off of a windows OS.
